I find the heat the first 10 min of growing chillies better then using a cooking pot. If you grow chillies a single season, I recommend using a pot of your choice over boiling water or water with a splash of cooking liquid. The resulting water and cook time combined may be a difference of between 40 and 50 minutes.

If you are a beginner, then you are probably not surprised to see a big difference, but with a bit of practice, you can improve your technique greatly which will make growing a variety of chillies easy

Do you find a time when you don't want to use your pot in the hot summertime? Do you find it inconvenient to use your pot when it cools? I do occasionally use my pot at the end of the summer to cook fresh chillies until the warm spring weather is over. A 5cm x 6cm pot is very convenient for growing chillies so if you do use your pot when they cool, it is more comfortable and more convenient. You can use your pot for an extra 5 minutes for a 4x4 pan while growing chillies, or it can be used for a 3x3 pan. You can also use your chopsticks while growing chiles for a pinch of flavour to a 4x4 pan.
